The disclosure gap is the story. This is equipment that holds a vehicle over a person's head, and the two constraints that decide whether it can be installed safely in a given building are absent from the overwhelming majority of listings that sell it.

Required ceiling height is the only specification in this set that no two independent sources ever agreed on, because only fourteen listings state it at all. Voltage, which affects your electrician's bill rather than whether the lift fits, is stated seven times more often.

Seven brands appear across three or more unrelated retailers, which is what an open dealer programme looks like from the outside. BendPak, which ranks first in Google for the head term, appears in none of the seven independent catalogues at all.
Why the ceiling height gap matters
Two things decide whether a car lift can be installed in a given building: the ceiling height it requires, and the concrete it has to be anchored into. Neither is a preference. A lift that will not fit is not a cheaper lift, it is a crate in the corner of a garage.
Both are published by manufacturers in their installation manuals. Neither reliably survives the journey onto the page where the lift is sold. In our extraction, voltage appeared on 145 matched listings and required ceiling height on 14.

Assume the listing does not tell you whether the lift fits, and ask before you order rather than after. The manufacturer's installation manual is the document that settles it, and any retailer worth buying from can send you one.
What this means if you are selling
The gap is an opportunity rather than an indictment. A listing that states the ceiling height, the concrete specification and the electrical requirement answers the three questions that stop a purchase, and almost nobody is doing it.
Method
We read the published product feeds of seven independent US retailers of automotive lifts and four manufacturer catalogues, 5,284 listings in total, in September 2026.
Listings were filtered to automotive lifts, excluding accessories, jacks, tire changers and wheel service equipment, leaving 655 lift SKUs. Model identity was resolved on manufacturer part number rather than on listing title, because titles vary between retailers and part numbers do not.
Specifications were extracted from listing text with pattern rules and validated against plausibility bands. Where two or more unrelated sources stated the same value it is recorded as corroborated; where one stated it, as single source; where sources disagreed, the value is discarded rather than published.
Prices are the value each retailer listed at the time of reading. We have not purchased or tested any of these products, and nothing here is a quote.
